MARIANA TOLEDO-HERMINA
More Than Just an Attorney
Mariana Toledo-Hermina opened her firm in 2019 and practices exclusively in the area of immigration law. Mariana is licensed in the state of North Carolina, and came to immigration law after working extensively with immigrants’ communities in the context of health education and community organizing.
Professional
Mariana graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, with a B.A. in Modern Languages. After graduation, she moved to Washington, DC to start what would become her life work, serving the immigrants communities through her work as an educator, a community organizer and a legal advocate.
Mariana has a combination of immigration and criminal law experience working with underserved communities, as well as practice and teaching experience in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools System and a strong commitment to public interest law, experienced through her prior work with immigrant communities in the areas of health, education and law.
Mariana moved to North Carolina in 2006 after graduating from the City University of New York School of Law and working as an attorney. In North Carolina, she worked with CMS for over 2 years as a Bilingual Family Advocate and a Spanish teacher in high school and middle school. She has also volunteered with Legal Services of Southern Piedmont’s Immigration Project and Red Ventures Golden Door Scholars non for profit.
Prior to relocating to the Carolinas, Mariana worked as an attorney at the Legal Aid Society’s Juvenile Rights Division in the Bronx, NY. At Legal Aid she provided criminal legal representation for low-income juveniles by safeguarding their interests and legal rights.
Mariana has been practicing immigration law in the Carolinas since 2011. She is fluent in Spanish, and is a member in good standing of the North Carolina State Bars and the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association.
Personal
Mariana was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She is the daughter of two wonderful parents, her mother is an attorney and her father is a retired teacher. Mariana has lived in the Carolinas for the past years and calls it home. She enjoys kickboxing, cooking and trying new vegan recipes, as well as spending time outdoors with friends.
